Concealed ventilation diffusers for supply and extract air

A concealed ventilation diffuser is a supply or extract air terminal built into the plasterboard ceiling or wall and finished flush with the surface. It performs the same job as a conventional diffuser — distributing or collecting air — while staying invisible in the finished room.

This guide is written for HVAC contractors and MEP consultants who need the outlet to satisfy the ventilation design first and the interior design second, with no compromise on either.

Supply and extract, one detail language

Concealed diffusers are used for both supply and extract. Because the same product family covers both directions, a project can keep one consistent, near-invisible detail across every position — supply in the living area, extract in the bathroom — instead of mixing visible grille types.

The airflow direction is set by the ductwork and the diffuser configuration, not by a different-looking product. That keeps the ceiling plan clean and the specification simple.

How it integrates with the ductwork

The diffuser body connects to the supply or extract duct behind the ceiling and is fixed into the plasterboard opening during second fix. The connection size and method depend on the model; these must be matched to the duct design so airflow and pressure behave as intended.

Because the body sits within the ceiling void, the available plenum depth and the duct route need to be confirmed early. Coordinating this with the ceiling build-up avoids clashes on site.

Airflow, comfort and acoustics

Correct sizing matters as much for a concealed diffuser as a visible one: undersized outlets increase velocity and noise, oversized outlets waste ceiling space. Airflow figures and acoustic data for each model must be taken from current manufacturer documentation for the specific configuration.

ERGOVENT Thailand does not publish performance figures that have not been confirmed for a given model — we provide the current data on request so your calculations rest on real numbers, not estimates.

When to use it

When this is the right solution

Air-conditioned interiors

Any conditioned room where the supply or extract outlet would otherwise interrupt the finish.

Supply positions

Delivering conditioned air to living areas, bedrooms and suites without a visible grille.

Extract positions

Removing air from bathrooms, kitchens and utility spaces discreetly.

Mixed schemes

Projects that want one consistent concealed detail across supply and extract.

Before you order

What to confirm first

Concealed diffusers are specified against the project, not from a shelf. Confirm these before ordering:

  • Airflow (m³/h) required at each position, and the direction (supply or extract).
  • Duct size, connection type and available plenum depth in the ceiling void.
  • Acoustic targets for the space and the model's confirmed acoustic data.
  • Ceiling/wall build-up and how the diffuser body fits within it.
  • The current manufacturer datasheet for the exact model and configuration.

All technical data must be verified against the current manufacturer documentation for your specific configuration before specification and installation.

Frequently asked questions

Can one diffuser do both supply and extract?
A single position is configured for one direction, set by its ductwork. The same product family covers both, so supply and extract positions across a project share the same concealed appearance.
Do concealed diffusers reduce airflow?
No — they are sized to the required airflow like any diffuser. Concealment affects the visible finish, not the outlet's capacity, provided the model is correctly selected for the duty.
What airflow can each model handle?
That depends on the model, size and configuration. We provide current manufacturer airflow data on request rather than publishing figures that are not confirmed for the Thai market.
How do they connect to round or rectangular duct?
Connection details vary by model. Send your duct sizes and we will confirm the compatible configuration before you order.
Who coordinates installation with the HVAC works?
Our team works directly with your HVAC contractor on positions, connections and sequencing with the ceiling trades.

Specifying concealed diffusers for a project?

Send your ceiling plans and duct sizes and our Thailand team will recommend the right models, confirm the configuration and prepare a quotation.
